Description Description of the Danish experience with cleaner technology within the clothing and textile industry. The report addresses four areas: cleaner technology in pigment printing, in reactive dyeing of cotton and in enzymatic desizing and chemical savings and substitutions. In each area, technological options are evaluated according to the definition of Best Available Techniques and the guidelines (best available technique reference documents, or BREF documents) of the European Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC) Bureau. During the evaluation, the environmental aspects and effects of the options were considered. The evaluation also considered their general applicability within the industry, economy and driving forces for implementation.
